Lots of changes at Sovereign

Tuesday, July 17th 2007, 5:08AM
Sovereign has made several key appointments and new positions within its distribution team, as the company seeks to capitalise on growth opportunities including the launch of KiwiSaver, and its new television advertising campaign.

Sovereign has split its northern sales region in two, creating a second regional manager's position. In addition it has also create a new position within investments, to support Sovereign's new focus on its select wrap offering.

Head of adviser distribution David Haak says it has been timely to review the way the Sovereign structures its support to advisers.

"As well as providing additional support on the ground, we're now more targeted geographically, and in terms of product specialists."

The appointments

Ross Wallace has been appointed national sales manager investments, and takes over the role formerly held by Burton Shipley. He will concentrate on developing the investment arm of Sovereign's business. Previously he was the business development manager for the northern region, and also has considerable investment experience.

Dion Jenkins is the new investment distribution manager for the Auckland and Waikato regions. He has worked in the field of investments both in Australia and New Zealand, and most recently was an investment adviser and stockbroker.

Peter West takes up the new position of NZ sales manager select, and will be based in Wellington. He has been a key member of the select investor service for many years.

Keith Styles and Brent Postlewaight have been appointed as the new northern regional managers. Styles is responsible for the region north of the bridge, and has been a part of Sovereign's distribution team for seven years. Postlewaight will take care of the region south of the bridge, and has been a business development manager for Sovereign for the past seven years.

Carl Drummond joins the Auckland regional team as business development manager. He has considerable experience in business development, and has worked as a mortgage and insurance adviser for the past two years.

Gareth Allen and Aaron Baker have been appointed business development managers for the Auckland North region. Allen moves from his current role as key account manager to the Auckland North team, and has worked for Sovereign for the past three years. Baker has been a personal insurance manager and business insurance manager with ASB for the past five years.
