New head of financial sector for AIG
Thursday, January 3rd 2008, 12:00PM
Brown has a 25-year background in the insurance industry, beginning as an adviser in New Zealand and spending seven years in Hong Kong, where he most recently served as chief distribution officer for a large multinational corporation.
Brown says he looks forward to leading AIA FSN, which was established earlier this year, to its next phase of growth.
"We're focusing on developing and optimizing sales, increasing productivity, growing active adviser numbers and promoting the benefits of the network to all advisers. There are a lot of independent financial advisers looking for support, and we will introduce our value proposition to them."
There are currently 70 advisers working from offices in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch.
Brown says the long-term goal for AIA FSN is to expand the network beyond its existing market to all advisers. "With the regulatory environment changing, advisers need help to get through the compliance process.
"We are working to become the network of choice for advisers. Many advisers operate as one-man bands or small groups, and we will be assisting them to grow their businesses by providing the support they require."
AIG Life's size and worldwide reach means AIA FSN has the strength to support advisers, and Brown says the AIA branding of the network will continue because of its profile within the community.
