Commerce Minister Simon Power made the announcement and said that Curtin's offer, was "in the public interest, (and) is an appropriate resolution of the issues that have been raised recently in relation to his disclosure of interests."He says Curtin will remain as a member of the Commission and will continue to use his experience to contribute to its work outside any areas identified as potential conflicts. Allegations where levelled that Curtin had a conflict of interest due to his former role with Vestar's investment committee. An enquiry was launched by the commission last year, but there has been no formal announcement of its outcome.
