The Canterbury earthquake will put pressure on the city's residential rental sector, as the pool of available homes shrinks and home owners whose properties have been condemned look for short to medium-term accommodation.
Napier Building Society upped its floating rate by 25 basis points yesterday bringing it to 6.25%. Also, Heretaunga Building Society cut its two-year rate by 15 points and Southern Cross Building Society trimmed its three-year rate by 10 points.
