Friday, June 1st 2012, 1:11PM

Insurance company IAG, which owns NZI, State and AMI, has appointed David McClatchy as its new chief investment officer.

McClathcy was chief executive officer of ING Investment Management in Australia between 2007 and 2009 and before that had a similar role in New Zealand.

More recently he has been working as a business and investment consultant.

McClatchy succeeds John Stratton, who left the company in April to take up the chief investment role of Brit Insurance.

McClatchy will oversee more than A$12.7 billion in asset under management.
