Joe Byrne will be responsible for managing the research team and the ongoing delivery of investment solutions to Grosvenor’s financial adviser clients. He will report to the company’s chief investment officer and joint chief executive, David Beattie.
For the last six and a half years Byrne has been employed by Goldridge Wealth Management, where he provided investment research and asset consulting services to selected financial advisory groups.
Before moving to New Zealand in 2004 with his Kiwi-born wife, he worked in London for almost 10 years, most of this time at Moore Capital Management where he was responsible for fixed interest trading and risk management as part of their US$10billion hedge fund.
He started his financial markets career in New York in 1987 with KPMG Peat Marwick, where he worked for five years in the financial services group and left as a senior auditor. He then spent some time at Lehman Brothers and Argonaut Capital Management, before joining Moore Capital Management, where he worked as a senior analyst prior to transferring to London in 1996 to help establish their London office.
“Joe brings a wealth of relevant experience, both in portfolio and risk management disciplines and in understanding how to support New Zealand financial advisers in the newly-regulated environment,” Beattie says. “His wide range of industry and global experience will significantly enhance Grosvenor's capacity to continue to provide first-class investment solutions and service, both to our adviser clients and to the 30,000 plus New Zealanders who have now invested in Grosvenor’s KiwiSaver Scheme via these financial advisers.”
He starts with Grosvenor in December.
