Marc Whittaker
Wayne Gentle, former deputy head of Australian equities for Colonial First State, has accepted the role and will start on July 11, Milford managing director Anthony Quirk said.
The announcement follows the departure of Marc Whittaker, who officially leaves today. He had been part of the company since 2010 and most recently was the portfolio manager for the Australian equity part of the Trans-Tasman Fund.
"Marc has decided it is time for a new challenge in our industry and has accepted a new role with a Sydney based funds management firm [which is yet to be announced]," Quirk said.
"We have been in mutual discussions with Marc around his potential departure from Milford for some time, and therefore that has allowed us to be in the search for a suitable replacement.
Gentle had more than 20 years' experience in investment markets covering deputy head of equities, head of research, senior portfolio manager and senior analyst roles, Quirk said.
"He has a strong investment track record in managing a diverse range of Australian Equities portfolios for institutional and retail clients with various investment styles, benchmarks and risk profiles and so we are delighted to have him on board.
"His appointment reaffirms our commitment to a growing and thriving Australian based office for Milford."
