Brexit can be a polarising topic around the dinner table. But for UK ex-pats in NZ – or Kiwis who’ve already moved back home – there’s some financial news that definitely doesn’t require a stiff upper lip.

UK pension transfer specialists Britannia Financial Services Ltd have recently introduced the Britannia Retirement Scheme, a bespoke pension fund scheme to cater for those of us who live over here, but still have a UK pension over there.

Offering the best of both worlds, it starts with transferring the UK pension to NZ. Then Britannia manages the client’s investments, making it easier for them to consolidate and keep track of their assets right here in New Zealand.

QROPS ALL THE WAY
The new Britannia Retirement Scheme is a QROPS scheme, which means members will be able to transfer the monies from their UK pensions directly to the scheme. Britannia then manage that investment so that it’s there to help in retirement.

“It’s a diversified approach to superannuation that enables clients with a UK pension to grow their portfolio in New Zealand  – and receive flexible payments to match their financial needs after 55,” says Gavin Dixon, Britannia CEO.

FOUR FUNDS
The scheme re-invests monies in one or a combination of four different funds: Cash Enhanced, Moderate, Balanced and Growth.

“The Britannia Retirement Scheme is designed for individuals willing to invest for the longer term, not just the flavour of the month,” says Britannia Director, Alun Rees-Williams.

UK EXPERTISE
Britannia have access in the UK to Mark Hattersley, an experienced IFA at Acumen who is qualified to provide reports currently required in relation to transfers of defined benefit schemes and similar over £30,000.

They also have UK administration which helps Britannia overcome the numerous complications that can arise when transferring pension funds; complications that can add time, cost and frustration to the process.

ALL THE HELP YOU NEED
There’s plenty of options for advisers too. With the Britannia Retirement Scheme they can negotiate their level of remuneration. Britannia also take a ‘hands on’ or ‘hands off’ approach, depending on adviser wishes, knowledge and experience.

“If you’re in doubt, just give us a call. Our business is your business too.”

PROPERLY BRITISH, POSITIVELY KIWI
The founders, who continue to work in the business, have specialised in transferring UK pensions to New Zealand since 1996, and have now successfully completed over 20,000 transfers. They also have the largest QROPS fund in the country.

Combine this with a network of UK and NZ specialists to cater for all financial needs and when it comes to UK pension transfer knowledge there really is no-one better. In fact there’s only one word for it. Brexcellent.
