Newpark stacks its board with well-known people
Newpark Group has appointed four business leaders to its board, to help design and implement the group’s future strategy.

Burton Shipley
Well-known financial adviser Murray Weatherston is one of the new members appointed to the Newpark board. Weatherston has been the chairman of SiFA and one of the predecessor organisations of the IFA. He is a regular commentator on regulation issues on Good Returns and has previously held other governance roles including as a board member of the Pubic Trust.
Burton Shipley is the husband of former Prime Minister Jenny Shipley. He has 15 years’ experience in financial services that includes stints at Sovereign, ASB and Westpac.
Shipley is currently on the World Executive of Basketball and is chairing the Basketball World Cup in China in 2019. He is the President of FIBA Oceania and is a former Chairman of the Auckland Breakers.
Bruce Cotterill has extensive experience across a range of industries including real estate, media, financial services, technology and retail. He is an ex chief executive of Colliers, Kerry Packer’s ACP Magazines, sportswear company Canterbury International and in 2008 he stepped in as CEO of the Yellow Pages Group to lead the company through a period of dramatic change.
Cotterill is a passionate leader of change and is genuinely interested in business performance and improvements.
Bob Harvey served six terms as mayor of Waitakere, and has extensive experience in the advertising industry and politics.
The other directors are managing director Darren Gannon and Scott Wilson.
Gannon says the new board and management team will now focus its time and energy to re-inventing Newpark into the leading advisory support business in New Zealand for good financial advisers.
