Partners Life has appointed Rebecca Sellers to the role of Chief Legal, Risk and Conduct Officer.
She is a lawyer with a background in financial services regulation and law reform as well as psychology. Partners Life managing director Naomi Ballantyne has admired her for the expert consultancy she has provided the industry over many years.
Sellers has held legal, consultancy and financial services leadership roles in major law and financial institutions in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Conduct and culture is a key focus area for the industry and a focus of the role.
“I am pleased to be joining Partners Life, the most innovative and fast growing life insurance company in New Zealand, at a time when the industry faces challenges around sustainability, broadening the outreach of insurance, and a new regime for the regulation of financial advice. Insurers step in to enhance the care that the government provides for its citizens," Sellers says.
Ballantyne says, “Rebecca has an impressively comprehensive background in technical insurance and reinsurance and financial services, so she understands the depth and breadth of the market issues that our industry is facing at this time. Equally important is that her approach to leadership and culture fits us perfectly. We are delighted to have Rebecca join the Partners Life family at such an important and exciting time in our history.”
Sellers is a regular conference presenter on industry conduct and financial advice.
