Fidelity Life has appointed financial services specialist Mel Hewitson as an independent director on its board.
“Mel has a strong background in financial services, risk management and regulation – all very relevant areas for Fidelity Life as we navigate significant industry change and progress with our transformation strategy,” says Fidelity Life chair Brian Blake.
She brings a wealth of governance and executive experience to Fidelity Life.
Her current governance roles include Simplicity (member, audit and risk vommittee), Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Whai Maia (chair, audit, risk and finance committee) and Foundation North, formerly ASB Community Trust (deputy chair and chair, investment committee).
Prior to her governance career she held senior executive roles with Trustees Executors, the Financial Markets Authority and ANZ Bank.
Her appointment to Fidelity Life’s board comes shortly after that of banking and infrastructure specialist Nicola Greer in May, following the retirements of independent directors Carole Durbin and Anne Blackburn over the past 18 months.
