Fiona Mackenzie has been appointed as the new managing director of ANZ Funds Management.
She is currently the Head of Direct Wealth at Jarden and previously was the Head of External Investments and Partnerships with the New Zealand Super Fund and Chair of its Investment Committee. She has also worked for the NZX as Head of Markets and Strategy, and Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse First Boston in the United States.
ANZ New Zealand chief executive Antonia Watson said Mackenzie, who would also sit on ANZ New Zealand’s Leadership Team, brought enormous hands-on investment management experience and governance to the role.
“ANZ is the largest private sector funds management and KiwiSaver provider in the country with more than 650,000 customers and $35 billion under management,” Watson said.
“Unlike ‘passive’ providers that follow indices, ANZ is an ‘active’ manager that participates in local and offshore markets on behalf of investors. That has resulted in strong short and long term after fee returns on various ANZ funds and why the team has won multiple awards over the years.
“Fiona Mackenzie will continue to build on the successes of that business at a time of global market uncertainty and changing regulatory, customer and stakeholder expectations.”
Mackenzie also has strong governance experience being a Director of Sanford and having been on the boards of Ascot Radiology, the Outward Bound Foundation and the Institute of Finance Professionals.
ANZ Chief Financial Officer Stewart Taylor will continue to be the acting Managing Director Funds Management until Mackenzie begins.
Mackenzie is due to start in the role, subject to a non-objection from the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, in January.
