Gabe Smith.
Gabe Smith joined Cigna as its new chief architect earlier this week and David Marquis will become head of data when he starts his new role on October 11.
Smith was the general manager of enterprise technology at Xero and brings more than 25 years in the technology industry to Cigna.
Most recently he’s led teams of architects, developers and engineers to deliver cloud solutions and services for OSPRI – the partnership between primary industries and the New Zealand government.
Cigna's chief information officer Craig Musker says Smith will be responsible for driving and managing Cigna’s technology architecture and will help leverage cloud technology and streamline Cigna's systems.
Marquis (pictured left) was the head of data solutions at Z Energy and has more than 15 years of experience in the data industry. Before that, he spent seven years at TradeMe evolving their data platforms.
Musker says Smith will help drive the next phase of Cigna's "data journey" to ensure the business is getting the analytics and insights it needs.
“At Cigna we’re lucky to be part of a global company that provides access to an impressive amount of resource that can support our ambitions to provide a market-leading service offering."
