Wealthpoint is a co-operative that is fully owned by its 50 advisory business member shareholders.
Mann has a 35-year career in financial services and had been with advisory group Lifetime until his departure in August. Mann’s new business, Rothbury Employee Benefits, focuses on group life and health markets and is co-owned by Rothbury Group.
As New Zealand’s third largest general insurance brokerage, Rothbury is keen to take its employee benefits offering to its general insurance clients. Rather than expanding its own specialist FAP back office, Rothbury has elected to partner with Wealthpoint as a licensed FAP that has experience and strong capability in the life and health market.
Wealthpoint chief executive Simon Manning said: “I’ve known Garry for close to 30 years. He is a highly experienced and skilled financial adviser with longstanding connections to many Wealthpoint advisers. My team and the Wealthpoint Board are very pleased to have him join us.
"But personal connections aside, this was primarily a business decision made by the Rothbury group - we’re really pleased that Rothbury has chosen Wealthpoint to support the growth of their employee benefits business.”
Wealthpoint has recently set up a general insurance brokerage which won’t be impacted by the new relationship with Rothbury. Most Wealthpoint members operate their own general insurance businesses through existing Wealthpoint arrangements.
