Paul Brownsey, who founded Pathfinder with John Berry has resigned from his position as chief investment officer of Alvarium and Pathfinder.
"Paul leaves with our best wishes," Berry says.
Brownsey will spend the next month handing over his responsibilities while the company looks for a suitable replacement.
In the interim Wayne Ross will act as interim CIO to ensure a smooth transition for the team and clients.
Ross has been with the Alvarium group since 2021 when Alvarium acquired Newtown Ross.
"Wayne has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry and, as part of the Alvarium group, has been directly overseeing in excess of $1 billion of our funds under management," Berry says.
Brownsey says is on gardening leave until the end of August but intends to return to the industry.
"I'm sure you'll see me back in the industry later this year, I love investing and I still have plenty to contribute," he says on a LinkedIn post.
"John Berry and I started Pathfinder in 2009 as refugees from the investment banking world. In those early days we had tremendous support from Deutsche Bank and BNZ Private Bank.
"Growing Pathfinder was a long and at times overwhelmingly tough job, but I believe we did build an amazing investment manager. John and I can recount some very fun stories from this period.
"We have lots of support from the independent AFA community from up and down the country and I personally value those relationships. I'm very proud to have been instrumental in building an investment process that has delivered high returns while incorporating very rigorous ethical and ESG criteria," he writes.
