AIA creates a new role

Monday, April 29th 2024, 11:21AM

AIA NZ has appointed Alex Kühnast to the new role of Chief Product and Strategy Officer.

AIA chief executive Nick Stanhope says "Alex’s appointment is exciting for us. He is a natural fit at AIA NZ with his passion for health and wellbeing, and he has a wealth of international experience, having lived and worked in his home country of South Africa, as well as the Netherlands, United Kingdom and of course now New Zealand.”

Prior to joining AIA NZ, Kühnast was Principal – Head of Insurance Consulting and Actuarial Services at KPMG New Zealand after moving from KPMG South Africa. He has previously held leadership roles at Different Life, been chief executive at KGA Life in South Africa and held senior roles at Aegon, KPMG Netherlands and Hollard Insurance.

“At AIA NZ, we’re proud of AIA Vitality, our science-backed health and wellbeing programme – and given that Vitality was established in South Africa in 1997, Alex is already familiar with its many benefits thanks to his South African roots,” Stanhope says.

In Kühnast’s role as Chief Product and Strategy Officer – a new role at AIA NZ – he is responsible for Product, Pricing, Investments and Strategy.
