New Director for ASB

Jon Hartley has been appointed a Director of both ASB Bank Limited and ASB Group (Life) Limited, effective as from 1 June 2004.
Hartley replaces Dr John Hood on the two Boards, the latter having resigned as a Director following his appointment as the next Vice Chancellor of the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.
Based in Wellington, Hartley is a qualified accountant with extensive business experience across a wide range of industries in several countries.
He has held Chief Executive Officer positions in several companies including Solid Energy New Zealand Ltd and Brierley Investments Ltd in New Zealand and within the Lend Lease Group and East-West Airlines Ltd in Australia. Originally from the UK he has held senior positions in the UK, the Sudan and Zambia.
Hartley is currently an advisory board member for several New Zealand and Australian organisations and his previous roles include chairing Skycity Entertainment Group Ltd and acting as a director of Air New Zealand Ltd. He is also an adviser to World Vision. His current directorship with Bluestone Group Pty Limited will end on 30 September 2004 as a consequence of his appointment to the ASB Boards.
