Mercer has appointed Brian Long and Luke Fitzgerald to provide advisory and research services to financial planning organisations, private banks and platforms.
Long, who brings more than 25 years of financial services experience in investment banking, investment administration and custody, investment research and product distribution, will lead the wealth management team in Australia and New Zealand.
Fitzgerald will also join Mercer in a senior consulting role, focusing on national financial planning dealer groups.
He has a strong business development and distribution background within a variety of industries, including within financial planning networks, in both Australia and New Zealand.
Graeme Mather, business leader for Mercer's Investment Consulting business in Australia and New Zealand says the two senior hires will strengthen Mercer's capabilities in the wealth management segment.
"Both Brian and Luke have significant industry experience and possess the skills needed to take our wealth management business to the next level.
"They will focus on harnessing our powerful global research to create leading edge solutions for clients in the financial advisory industries," Mather says.
Rashmi Mehrotra, head of Wealth Management for Mercer's Investment Consulting business in the Asia Pacific region says the new hires form part of Mercer's strategy of developing a high-performance wealth management advisory business in the region.
"With ageing populations, increased regulation and a post-GFC environment, financial advisers across the board are demanding more robust and tailored research to ensure they can deliver innovative and compliant solutions.
She says boosting Mercer's wealth management consulting resources will put it in good stead to continue offering clients a premium service in the region.
"These appointments will foster greater communication and interaction with advisers, and will complement the provision of our professional development workshop series," Mehrotra says.
