Angus Dale-Jones, Director Financial Adviser Regulation (Implementation), leaves the Securities Commission this month.
He joined in the commission in 2008 to oversee the implementation of the financial adviser regulation and has been instrumental in building industry support for the new regime.
"Angus has achieved a great deal in short time, and has built a solid foundation for regulation going forward in New Zealand," outgoing commission chairman Jane Diplock says.
"His pragmatic, open approach to regulation will be missed by the commission and those in the industry."
Dale-Jones says that his last day at the commission, March 31, marks the end of 20 years regulation.
"I'm setting up a compliance strategy consultancy. In many ways I'll be continuing what I've attempted to do for much of my regulatory career: trying to make regulation and compliance more understandable and practical. Just now I'll be the other side of the table."
