His new role gives him responsibility for a nationwide team of business development managers charged with growing AIA’s presence with independent financial advisers. His key focus is on continuing to improve AIA’s value proposition for advisers and their clients.
Wayne Besant, the chief executive of AIA New Zealand, said: “Graeme’s significant industry experience and background equip him to add real value to what we do for advisers and our policyholders. The IFA market is a crucial part of our industry and a significant focus for AIA, and as such we are very pleased to welcome Graeme into the business.”
AIA has also announced the appointment of Karin Robertson to the position of head of operations. Robertson joined the company more than five years ago and has since progressed through management of new business and into senior operational roles.
She has 16 years’ experience in the financial and insurance industry, with previous roles in operations, policy servicing and customer service and wide-ranging team management responsibilities.
Besant said: “Karin has made an enormous contribution to our business since she joined us in 2009, and has become integral to our leadership. We’re proud to have brought forward someone from within the AIA family to this significant leadership role. Karin’s operational skills and experience in understanding the adviser market are highly valuable in this industry. Customer service is also crucial to what we do and this is another real strength of hers. AIA’s focus is on providing more New Zealanders with insurance cover and making it as easy as possible for people to ensure they are adequately protected. Karin’s role as head of operations is to lead our operations team and implement our strategic direction as the business grows and we focus further on simple, relevant solutions for the needs of New Zealanders.”
