Tate steps down

Former IFA president Nigel Tate has resigned from his positions with Financial Advice NZ.

Tate was a founding member of the financial planning member advisory committee and the certification committee.

But he said he had decided to step down.

"I've spent 25 years on various committees with various professional bodies... it's got to the stage where I've got a couple of other things I'm involved in. I think I've done my share and it's time for them to find someone new."

He said he was worried about becoming stale and doing the "same old same old". "I've spent 12 years on the certification committee... it's a good time to get some new blood on there. With the MAC it's really just a case of once again it's a role I don't necessarily need."

Tate said the association had a challenge ahead as it worked through new regulation, but he had been through the same thing a decade ago.

"I don't particularly want to go through that again."

He said he remained supportive of Financial Advice NZ and was resigning from the positions, not his association membership.

Congratulations for your dedication, Nigel. Most have no idea the personal commitment it takes. FANZ must get the next generations to step into your shoes with the same enthusiasm. Well done!
