Jasper joins trust

Foundation North appoints Frank Jasper to chair its investment committee.

Wednesday, June 19th 2024, 9:41AM

The community trust for Auckland and Northland, Foundation North, has appointed Frank Jasper to chair its Investment Committee.

Jasper takes up the role in a consultant capacity, replacing trustee Michelle Tsui who vacated the role following her recent successful appointment as Chair of the Foundation’s board.

With a career in financial services spanning 30 years, Jasper brings a broad spectrum of portfolio and asset management business knowledge and experience to the Foundation.

Foundation North chief executive Peter Tynan said, “The Foundation has a sizeable portfolio which is well diversified across different asset classes and across multiple geographies. Frank’s impressive experience as a fund manager dealing in a range of asset classes adds to the variety of expertise we need.”

"The purpose of the Foundation to enhance lives through responsible guardianship of its investments is one that resonates deeply with me," Jasper says.  "Working off the strong base already in place I hope to add value, helping the Foundation to deliver on this purpose and enabling it to play an even more important role in our community.”

The portfolio has delivered returns in excess of its target on a long-term basis and regularly reviews its asset allocation and managers.

In recent years, the Foundation has been active in extending its investing for good by launching an impact investment fund, Te Pae Ki Te Rangi. The fund is managed by Soul Capital based in Auckland and is actively seeking impact investments that align to Foundation North’s focus areas.

Foundation North continues its commitment to being a responsible investor and a signatory to the Community Trusts’ Funders Commitment on Climate Action. The Investment Committee and Board are currently focused on working towards achieving its portfolio net zero carbon emission target by 2050 or before.
