Smartshares appoints new GM of business development and distribution

Smartshares makes an appointment to a newly created role; General Manager - Business Development and Distribution.

Smartshares has appointed Catherine Pollock to the company’s senior leadership team in the newly created role, General Manager - Business Development and Distribution.

In this role, Pollock will lead business development and market education initiatives in Smartshares.

She joins Smartshares after more than 14 years in London at fund manager 36 South Capital Advisors. In this position, she led the investor relations and customer services function of the business, while growing the funds’ sales and distribution capabilities.

Prior to joining 36 South Capital Advisors, she held roles at GLG Partners and Macquarie Group.

Smartshares CEO Anna Scott said the Business Development and Distribution role reflected the company’s growth ambitions, while driving further financial education and development opportunities to its current 150,000 customer base and wider community.

“Catherine brings with her a wealth of experience in building and developing long term relationships with direct investors, intermediaries and advisers, which will be invaluable to us achieving the next phase of growth at Smartshares,” said Scott. “We are delighted to have her on board.”

Pollock said, “It’s an exciting time for Smartshares – there are a lot of great opportunities ahead to pursue growth. I’m really looking forward to joining a dedicated team who are contributing to the ongoing financial success of New Zealanders.”
